There are three possible routes:

1 Cruise south - This is the easy route with no locks to navigate. After an hour and a half you reach Weedon with a range of Pubs and shops. From there you pass Stowe Hill and on to Bugbrooke (canalside Pub). For those who start promptly and are keen to cruise you can reach Gayton Junction, but remember that it takes just as long coming back . . .

2 Cruise north - This involves climbing the Buckby Locks (7 in all) and then turning right at Norton Junction to cruise to Watford. There is an excellent Thai Restaurant here.

3 Cruise north and west - This involves climbing the locks as above, but continuing straight on at the junction. This leads you to Braunston Tunnel. After negociating the tunnel you can pause for breath (or lunch on board) before turning round and doing it back the other way!
